Our Story & Mission
The Heart Behind Carmelite Ventures
I’m Shawn T. Ellison, MA, RN, founder of Carmelite Ventures, and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before stepping into acquisitions, I spent more than 14 years as a pediatric oncology nurse at leading hospitals including UCSF, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Those years shaped my conviction that compassionate, reliable care is one of the greatest gifts we can give families.
Alongside my nursing career, I earned a Master’s in Consciousness & Transformative Studies, which continues to inform my work. That foundation in awareness and human development helps me recognize the human depth behind every transaction — the owners who have built their businesses, the staff who depend on them, and the families who rely on their care.
I am also a member of the Dealmaker Wealth Society, founded by renowned acquisition expert Carl Allen. It is a global community of investors, financiers, and coaches dedicated to building Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) excellence. This network complements my healthcare background by providing access to leading deal-making strategies and collaborative expertise, ensuring each acquisition is both financially sound and human-centered.
At Carmelite Ventures, we carry this same perspective into every acquisition. We provide a smooth, respectful process that safeguards staff, sustains communities, and builds new opportunities for growth. Our mission is not just to acquire businesses but to carry forward a tradition of care that endures, ensuring patients and families continue receiving exceptional support.
Our Core Values
Compassionate Integrity
We lead with empathy and honesty, ensuring that every transition honors the trust placed in us. By combining care for people with transparent, principled action, we protect legacies while doing what is right for patients, families, and staff.
Presence In Care
We bring full attention to every relationship, meeting owners, patients, and communities where they are. Presence means being steady, attentive, and compassionate in moments of change — ensuring continuity and peace of mind.
Consciousness & Human Dignity
We approach each decision with deep awareness of the human person and the communities they are part of. Every business carries stories, lives, and legacies, and we honor that complexity with dignity and respect.
